After high school, Robert joined the army in 1967, sent to Korea where he started painting evenings and weekends. In 1970 he studied the work of Van Gogh, Monet, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, and Whistler.  In Washington DC he spent weekends painting the countryside of Maryland and Virginia.
In 1974 Robert became a product package engineer for Johnson & Johnson, then creative design manager with Disney. He had always wanted to work for Disney and he worked on exciting projects, looking back fondly on his time with Disney.
